ONE TEAM, ONE DREAM.

Playing Representative basketball is a privilege, and a reflection of players skills, sportsmanship, understanding of the game and positive attitude towards development.

Our program aims to provide players and coaches with education, development and, opportunities to improve, as well as represent Springwood & Districts Basketball Association at other Basketball NSW elite athlete trials and programs. We pride ourselves on the sportsmanship and conduct of our representative players and the results that each team and individual achieve.

Wearing the Springwood Scorchers uniform means that players are committed to:
– Compulsory weekly training sessions,
– Attending representative games,
– Developing skills, game intelligence and toughness throughout the season, which can be applied to all levels of the game,
– Paying the required Representative levies, and
– Actively contribute to volunteering your time to the Association at Holiday Clinics, community stalls or other opportunities.

Springwood & Districts Basketball Association enters junior teams into Basketball NSW’s Junior Metro League and senior teams into Basketball NSW’s Waratah League.

TRIALS

Representative Team Trials are held in November and December of each year.

There are generally three (3) trial dates, the first being open to all athletes and the third as an invite only for players chosen for a squad.

Players must attend at least one (1) trial to be considered.

A team of players is selected and may consist of 10 players and development players. Development players train with the team each week and may be called upon to play should the named player withdraw from a team or a player becomes injured.

UNIFORM

Representative uniforms are loaned to players by Springwood & Districts Basketball Association for use during the season.

In addition, each player is required to purchase:
– Playing shorts
– Warm up top
– Reversible training singlet
