ABOUT US
Springwood and Districts Basketball Association (S&DBA) is based out of Blaxland High School Sports Centre. We are a member of Basketball New South Wales, as well as being active members of our Blue Mountains and Penrith community. S&DBA is a non-profit organisation, providing a fun environment for people of all ages and abilities to play basketball. We have a large range of development sessions for all ages and experience levels, as well as domestic and representative competitions for both girls and boys of all different age groups. We currently run basketball activities on all days of the week, with an emphasis on creating more opportunities for young players, and in particular pushing for more female participation.
The Blue Mountains region is a tight-knit community, with around 80,000 members, which is embedded in the community values we create within both our domestic and representative programs. We are currently experiencing dramatic growth in our numbers and are excited to expand basketball opportunities within our local communities.
WHAT WE OFFER
We have a large range of development sessions and domestic competitions that cater to all ages, genders and abilities – giving everyone a chance to play basketball to the best of their abilities! Our Development Sessions are all about learning to play the game, our Domestic Competitions (all played out of Blaxland High School) are for playing the game we love, and our Representative Teams are for the best of our players to compete against other Associations!
MISSION STATEMENT
We are experiencing excellent growth across our Association, particularly in our girls department! We have grown the number of rep teams and competition participants drastically – however we are now finding that our Pink Squad development session is shrinking in numbers. Our all-inclusive Ball4All programs hasn’t had many new participants in a while – it’s the same familiar faces each week. Both of these spaces, the female participation and all-abilities participation, are really exciting opportunities for us to expand into in this coming year.
We are however in a tricky position where our boys’ programs are nearly full – most of our space to grow is in these two spaces. In order to grow these spaces, we are offering a variety of packages to all the primary schools in our Local Government Area that will hopefully incentivise participation in our programs. Whilst we would lose money on the discounted sessions, we think it’s worth it to get players onto the basketball court. The packages can be viewed below:
